On the one-year anniversary of the Beirut blast, my 30th birthday, celebrating was definitely out of the question. All the same, I decided to spend the day with friends, most of whom went to Downtown Beirut to get gassed and pelted with rubber bullets as they protested the lack of any accountability for this crime committed in broad daylight, which killed about 200 and left thousands displaced. Though I wasn't working for anyone, I decided to shoot anyway. It was an emotional day, a tense day, but ultimately a birthday I would not trade for anything.
